To use this software you should get a Litestep distro installed. For Information about "distros" visit one of these sites: http://www.shellfront.org http://www.litestep.net http://www.desktopian.org After you have a litestep distro installed, unpack the retrostep archive to the directory where you installed your distro. Note: You should not overwrite any files in the process. If you are prompted to do so, you are not extracting the files properly. You have to preserved the folders contained in the archive. If you extracted the retrostep distribution to the path mentioned above, retro should not need any configuration for it to run your distro. However, you should open the ./step.rc file that comes with retro in an editor. It contains information on some simple steps you can take to configure retro so that it behaves well. Note: You should use wordpad to open ./step.rc and not notepad because notepad refuses to handle Unix text files properly. If you cannot you wordpad, you have to extract the archive with smart CR/LF => LF conversion enabled. In WinZIP, this is found under the Options menu.
